Dr. George O'Connor
Clinical Psychologist
Rachelle has been providing psychotherapy for many years; her approach is Solution Focused, which allows her to develop a therapeutic plan during the first session.  Utilizing Cognitive Behavioural and Positive Psychology she provides help to clients struggling with low self-esteem, disordered eating, depression, and, relationship, menopause and communication issues.  Low self-esteem and self-value are often at the root of depression and of many self-harming behaviours – including poor relationship choices – which can block clients from moving forward in their lives.

Throughout client therapies Rachelles’ approach is self-empowerment, focusing on the development of the client’s strengths.  She teaches clients strategies which enable them to cope more effectively with life’s challenges and regain control of their lives.  Rachelle helps men, women and adolescents who need assistance with defining or redefining themselves, including life direction, communication skills, career and relationship needs; clients are given guidance which makes becoming who they want to be possible.  Rachelle offers warm, friendly advice in a comfortable unintimidating environment, helping those who come to her to reach their potential – quality of life enhancement is always the therapeutic goal.

Rachelle has been interviewed regarding the connection between poor self-value/self-image and psychological illness, as well as the use of holistic therapies in conjunction with traditional counselling services.  She has been interviewed regarding her approach and its effectiveness by TVO, CJOH News, CFMT, Canada AM and Midday News.

Rachelle received an award for her creation of a collegiate Expressive Art Therapies Program, and was nominated Chair of Ethics by her licensing body, the Ontario Society of Psychotherapists.

She has an M.A. in psychology, is a registered Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner, a Certified Gestalt Therapist, and, a certified Technician of Pharmaceuticals.  She has also trained in a variety of natural therapeutic modalities which enable her to provide a holistic approach to her client care.  She has studied in the U.K., the United States, and Canada.

Rachelle’s counselling services are covered under most extended health care plans.  She also has an office in Carleton Place, and offers in-office and telephone therapy at both offices.
